Methods. Seventy-five patients were included in this trial and randomized into three equal groups (25 each). Group A was subjected to six sessions of erbium-YAG laser for 6 months, group B was treated with 12 sessions of platelet-rich plasma over the same period, and group C was subjected to six sessions of erbium-YAG laser plus 12 sessions of platelet-rich plasma over the same period. From comparative studies we found the erbium:yttrium‐aluminium‐garnet (Er:YAG) laser, operating at a wavelength of 2.94 microns, to work best due to its high absorption in tissue water and proteins; this laser was used in clinical practice. 4–6 Utilization of the promising Erbium:YAG laser has been hindered by the lack of a truly effective optical fiber delivery system.
